The UK Government's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office provides advice about risks of travel to help British nationals make informed decisions. Find out more about FCDO travel advice.
FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the Mtwara region and within 20km of the Tanzanian border with Cabo Delgado Province in Mozambique. This is due to attacks by groups linked with Islamic extremism. Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against this FCDO advice.
Note : Very few people travel to this region and it is a long way away from any of the main tourist sites
