African Environments add extra walking trails, far from anyone.

African Environments have expanded their walking safari options, deep inside Serengeti National Park within in a designated wilderness zone where vehicles simply aren't allowed. The only way in is on foot.

It's where fresh lion tracks cross the path ahead of you, where you can hear a herd of wildebeest long before you see them, and where the loudest sound most days is the wind moving through the grass.

As owner, Richard Beatty explains "Picture the Serengeti without another vehicle in sight. No dust trail from a jeep ahead, no radio chatter about a sighting half a mile away, no queue of Land Cruisers around a tree. Just your group, the guide, and grass that runs to the horizon. That place exists - and we're one of only three operators in the world licensed to walk it."

We base our multi-day walking safaris from Pembezoni, our exclusive, white-label tented camp — moving at a pace that lets you actually notice the Serengeti, rather than drive past it. Every walk is led by our own experienced guides, accompanied by an armed park ranger as required, reading the landscape the way only decades on this ground can teach you.

It's not a long-distance trek. It's not about covering ground. It's about slowing right down, in a part of the Serengeti that most travellers - and most operators - never get near.

If that sounds like the kind of Tanzania you've been looking for for your guests, we'd love to help you plan it.
