Ruaha National Park is 1/3 larger than the whole of the Serengeti, whilst playing home to an incredible 10% of Africa's lion population.
One of only a dozen properties in the park, Ikuka Safari Camp believes this is the ultimate combination - where you can enjoy one of the last corners of genuine wilderness in Africa combined with incredible wildlife and exclusivity.
Their peak season runs from June to October when the landscape starts to become dry and the great Ruaha and Mwagusi rivers are reduced to pools which in turn concentrates the wildlife viewing.
During these months they encourage guests to experience walking. Owner Mark is himself a highly regarded walking guide and so walking is a central passion to what they offer at Ikuka.
Short or long, specialist interest or simply to earn your bush breakfast, for those who experience the magic of slowing down to walking pace is simply magical. You start to hone your senses, your eyesight sharpens, your start to smell the different vegetation as you pass through and you become aware of every crunch and crack you hear.

During dry season Ikuka can offer some really lovely activities alongside walking safaris at Ikuka, for example they hace their sleep out experience under the stars called the Rock House - the perfect combination of total comfort with a frisson of adventure!
Many guests also enjoy the thrill of hot air ballooning over the Great Ruaha River valley where you are the only balloon in the sky.
