Lake Natron Camp - from freak storms to new beginnings

Following a devastating storm on 15th February 15th, over 70% of Lake Natron Camp was destroyed.
High winds are not uncommon in Lake Natron, indeed the tents design was entirely focused on ensuring the stability of tents during the harshest situations. But Mother Nature had other ideas!

Founders Ake and Nangini set up this camp to give a direct and valuable income stream to Ngare Sero village, the destruction of the camp was heartbreaking as it meant the loss of income for the community they support.
"At some point you have to turn a bad situation into a good one. We decided to set up a fundraiser to support current projects in the village. It doesn’t replace the camp, but it does replace the income we would have generated. And what’s more 3 of our new suite tents survived. We have the blueprint for Natron version 4, and so we’ll build back stronger right away and get this camp, it’s awesome activities and treks back online before our busy season June 1st" says Director, Ake Lindstrom.
