Nyumbu's Upeo Serengeti set to open September 2026

During a recent site walkabout, Sarah Egani, the MD for Nyumbu Luxury Collection confirmed that the new Upeo Serengeti is on track for a soft opening this September 2026.


Sarah aptly named her decadent new lodge -  Upeo -  meaning horizon in Swahili. On arrival a stunning, indigenous wood feature tunnel momentarily withholds the grandeur of Upeo Serengeti. This clever design concept focusses the senses for a magnificent reveal of the northern Serengeti horizon. 


It is hard not to overstate the superlative, elevated splendour of the Upeo Serengeti site and the team’s epic undertaking in constructing the sublime new lodge as an extension of the gorgeous granite inselberg scape. 


Each villa inhales its 180 degree, cinematic vantage of the Seregenti. Sarah and her team conceived the villas to create once-in-a-lifetime safari memories with luxurious romance features, aesthetic ambient lighting and tailormade amenities including: a private boma sunset deck and private infinity plunge pool, standalone handcrafted bathtubs - big enough for two-, and twin in-and outdoor rain showers, all with unobstructed epic Serengeti vistas. 


The Tanzanian design team, led by Sarah, have taken great care to creatively capture the indigenous colour palet of the Upeo site. These unique natural characteristics are mirrored in the warm, welcoming earth and rich metallic tones and textures of the hand crafted décor accents.  


Upeo Serengeti’s 10 opulent open plan villas include 2 family & 2 honeymoon villas and in addition will offer a holistic escape in the Pangoni Wellness spa cavern with a curated selection of natural treatments from locally sourced ingredients.


Upeo Serengeti is located near the Tabora B area, 30 minutes from Kogatende airstrip affording year-round great game viewing and from June to October, a 1hr game drive to the famed, wildebeest river crossings.
