Pro-photographer suggests that Ndutu is a year round destination

Pierluigi Rizzato is a serial visitor to Ndutu Safari Lodge and offers a professional photographer's perspective on the merits of the area and the property.

Ndutu Safari Lodge was founded 58 years ago it has attracted world leading photographers and film makers including Jane Goodall and her filmmaker husband Hugo Van Lawick, countless BBC natural history crews and of course wildlife photographers. One of their longest standing visitors is Italian photographer Pierluigi Rizzato who has been staying with them over the last 37 years! 

Pierluigi admits he is a "really a big friend of Ndutu Safari Lodge" and first visited back in 1989. Since then he's clocked up a further 58 visits and has spent an incredible 475 nights at the property. So he knows a thing or two about the area!

He states that he loves to live "with and within wildlife" creating an intense emotional state as well as a perfect photographic environment.

He quotes the savannah and the opportunity to drive off-road as key elements in the Ndutu appeal, as these allow him to follow single individuals or an entire pride for a full day or even for several days.

"My motto is to be there and to live emotions," says Pierluigi, who has visited most of the best safari areas in Africa - and emphasises that Ndutu's attractions are not so easy to find anywhere else.

Noticeably, he has visited Ndutu during every month of the year and always finds it interesting and exciting. Each season brings different opportunities, different experiences and he emphasises that travellers should not simply visit during the 'obvious' periods.

As Ndutu enters their "predator season", Pierluigi says that this is one of his favourite times to capture breath-taking wildlife imagery.
