Swahili Dreams launches "beyond the game drive" photo challenge

Swahili Dreams are asking guests to send them their favourite image captured on their trip which shows nothing of the wildlife, but instead shows the little things that made their holiday so special.

Swahili Dreams Tented Camp in the Serengeti has long noticed that whilst guests start out excited to capture images of the lions, elephants and zebras (and do so in there 1000s!) there's far more to safari than just that and those moments can linger long in the memory.

As owner Louise Richardson explained, "We love safari, but we also believe that some of the best memories are created when you are not actually on a game drive. They happen over your first coffee in the morning; your welcome as you arrive into camp; sitting together at the end of the day in front of a 'bush tv' (fire pit); watching a beautiful Serengeti sunset...or sharing stories and laughter. It might be looking upwards after dark and realising just how many stars there are when you are far away from the lights of towns and cities. Who knows, but we want them all"

Once they have collated sufficient inspiring images, they plan to publish a coffee table book, produce a very different style promotional video and launch a special social media campaign, all entitled "Swahili Dreams Come True",

Louise and her team will select one single image - which will be used on the front cover of the book - and the photographer will be invited to choose a local community project to receive additional financial support from the lodge, as well as enjoying a repeat visit to the property.

Louise emphasises that they always wanted to create the kind of place they would love to stay at ourselves — somewhere comfortable and welcoming, where people know your name, where there is time to talk and laugh, and where you can simply relax and enjoy the extraordinary surroundings.
