The Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) has raised over 100,000,000 TZS (£30,000) to fund surgery for children born with congenital heart defects.

TATO members were moved by the financial challenges faced by local families unable to afford critical procedures. Willbard Chambulo, Chairman of TATO, expressed heartfelt gratitude to members for their generous contributions which were handed over to The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) and their 'Heart Team Africa' foundation.

Dr. Tatizo Waane, the Director of Cardiology at JKCI stated that the funds will assist at least 20 to 30 children with heart conditions.

TATO was established in 1983, and its membership now includes 78% of all licensed tour operators in Tanzania.
