Cherero Camp, a Kantabile Afrika property, is located in Serengeti National Park and is dedicated to promoting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) and sees the importance of female representation in society - including offering extended maternity leave, flexible work breaks and career development opportunities for women.
While Tanzanian women have historically faced barriers in education and employment, the tide is turning. Female employment rose from 67% in 2000 to 80% in 2019, signalling real change.
Cherero Camp is proud to contribute to this shift—not just by hiring more women, but by cultivating leaders like Sophia, their host, who leads a predominantly male team with confidence, and their chef Zawia, who began as a kitchen hand with no culinary school background.
Beyond employment, Cherero Camp supports broader social impact. They’re patrons of a local school and champions of the Days For Girls program, which fights period poverty by providing menstrual health education and supplies to girls in need.
Rooted in sustainability and Tanzanian hospitality, Cherero Camp blends luxury with purpose. Their mission? To create a just, inclusive environment where women thrive—because when women rise, communities flourish.
