Luxury operator, Illora Retreats, is set to expand into Tanzania with a new property in the Serengeti, to standards to match their stunning Masai Mara cmap.

The Serengeti property will have 14 luxury safari tents, each approximately 700 sq. ft., located on an almost hilltop site at Nyabagoti, approximately 14 km east of Seronera Airstrip. The location is right in the heart of the main game-viewing area of the Serengeti, and the property is being designed as a 12-month operation.

The site has extensive views across the Seronera Valley, and each guest tent will be positioned to take advantage of the surrounding landscape. In particular, the tents will have west-facing views across the Serengeti plains, allowing guests to enjoy uninterrupted sunset views from their tents.

Each tent will be well appointed and designed around the same philosophy as our existing Ilora Retreats property in the Masai Mara — combining high-end accommodation, privacy, personalised service and a strong connection with the surrounding environment.

For reference, you can see the existing Ilora Retreats concept, design and facilities here:

While the Tanzania property will not be identical, it will follow a similar standard and philosophy. The Serengeti camp will also include a number of enhanced guest services and facilities, including:

Personalised service, including private butler-style service

● Private chef / highly personalised dining

● Specially configured safari vehicles for our guests

● Spacious, private luxury tents with extensive views

● A strong emphasis on sustainability and low environmental impact

Sustainability is a particularly important part of the project. The camp will be 100% solar powered, with RO water treatment, and the development will occupy only approximately 2% of the total land area, leaving the overwhelming majority of the site untouched.

We expect the property to be ready around April–May 2027.

Professional photography and final visuals will only become available closer to completion, but as a reference this is the type and standard of product they operate in Kenya
