A second point of entry - Mamire Gate - has been officially opened into Tarangire National Park, resulting in in reduced waiting times, smoother logistics, and more meaningful time spent on actual wildlife experiences.
Receiving roughly 370,000 visitors annually, Tarangire National Park will now have easier access from regions such as Dodoma, Singida, and Manyara, removing their need to go via Arusha.
Senior Assistant Commissioner for Conservation and Head of the Northern Zone, Dr Beatrice Kessy, said the gate—located on the western side of the park—will act as a catalyst for tourism growth and job creation for communities surrounding the park.

“This gate will open up new opportunities not only for tourists but also for surrounding communities. Local residents will have greater access to visitors and markets for their products"

Commenting on the implementation of the project, Conservation Officer and Project Supervisor, Goodluck Busumbila, said the Government, through the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), allocated more than $1.5m for the construction of the gate.
On opening day, Maasai women gathered along the roadside in vibrant beadwork, signalling a quiet expectation, that increased visitor flow will translate into sustained local income.
The complex integrates a modern entrance, visitor amenities, staff housing, and parking, alongside water and electricity systems designed to meet rising operational and guest expectations.
