Nyumbu Tanzania to open the stunning new Upeo Serengeti lodge

Nyumbu Tanzania, the indigenous, Tanzanian-owned operator of the Nyumbu Migration Camp, will open Upeo Serengeti — an eight-suite lodge - in July 2027.

It's small by design and exclusive by choice, rising from a granite kopje above Kogatende. Each suite is built directly into the outcrop, with a private plunge pool, a standalone granite bathtub, and indoor and outdoor showers open to the savanna.

Guests at Upeo (swahili for "horizon") can choose between three suite types — Standard, Honeymoon, and Family — and have a shared run of lodge spaces: Pangoni Wellness, a spa set within a secluded cave in the kopje; the Machweo Sunset Deck, for telescopic star gazing under an unpolluted sky; and Osotwa, the central fire pit that anchors each evening.

Sarah Egani, Managing Director of Nyumbu Tanzania explains, "In Upeo Serengeti, we have achieved our dream of bringing our vision of safari to the Northern Serengeti. Our goal has always been to accentuate the beauty of this wonderful environment and offer our guests the feeling of living inside the Serengeti itself. Every stone on that kopje has been here for millions and millions of years. We built around it and not over it, and we can't wait for our guests to experience it."
