The much heralded Ubuyu, a Banyan Tree Escape, is now open in Ruaha. It is an exclusive ultra-luxury safari retreat consisting of six villas located along the Great Ruaha River and promises "Private, nature-led experiences that restore curiosity and calm."

This is Ubuyu, a Banyan Tree Escape. The Swahili word for the fruit of the baobab, Africa’s tree of life, a symbol of resilience and a source of vitality. Two towering baobab trees stand guard at the entrance of our immersive safari retreat, a gateway to the vast, untamed Tanzanian wilderness.

The rugged beauty of Ruaha National Park is all around Ubuyu – a living, breathing ecosystem of jungle, plains, savannah and mountains. Artisan-crafted and elemental, the design is inspired by Maasai vernacular architecture and the flowing curves of the river. Organic shapes, natural materials, and bespoke furniture hand-carved by local artisans feel both authentic and contemporary, while private infinity pools and viewing decks draw you deeper into the rhythm of the wild.

Dedicated Guide Each moment is carefully tailored under the guidance of a dedicated Escape

Host, focusing on the pillars of connecting to nature, community, and discovery & conservation.

Private Vehicle

Exclusivity is offered via a private vehicle and a dedicated guide (ESCAPE HOST) for each villa, ensuring complete flexibility and privacy in Tanzania's largest national park.
