International tourist arrivals maintained strong momentum between September and November 2025, reinforcing Zanzibar’s position as a resilient and increasingly year-round destination.

Arrival figures

September 2025: 84,154 visitors — up 38.6% from September 2024

October 2025: 86,740 visitors — up 24.2% from October 2024

November 2025: 72,833 visitors — up 8.6% from November 2024

Market performance highlights

Europe remained the dominant source market, accounting for over 70% of arrivals, with Italy, Germany and Poland consistently among the top contributors.

Growth during this period — typically considered part of the shoulder season — reflects deeper market penetration beyond peak months.

While leisure travel continues to dominate, the data points to a broadening mix of source markets, including emerging European and selected Asian and African markets.

What this snapshot tells us

The September–November performance demonstrates not only growth in visitor numbers, but also greater stability and maturity in Zanzibar’s tourism demand, supported by improved air connectivity, diversification efforts and sustained international interest.
