Discover Auberge's 'Wilderness beyond compare' in Mwiba, Serengeti

Beyond the Serengeti’s southern reaches, a landscape vast in scale and varying in texture unfolds within our exclusive-use protected wildlife area.

No other operators share this wilderness, its great expanse entirely yours to explore: from the seemingly endless short-grass plains where thousands of newborn wildebeest take their first unsteady first steps during the Great Migration’s calving season to the rolling hills, which give rise to weather-worn granite kopjes. A haven for predator and prey, the circle of life always in play —welcome to the Greater Mwiba.

Mwiba Lodge, Auberge Safari

From its perch atop an ancient granite outcrop, Mwiba Lodge presides over the Arugusinyai River gorge and the undulating wilderness beyond.

Ten spacious tented suites scattered among the boulders lend themselves to an atmosphere of complete seclusion — as if the wild beyond your deck is yours alone.

Flowing from one viewpoint to the next, the lodge’s design follows the landscape's lead, with enough restraint to ensure the landscape remains the main event.

Mwiba Plains, Auberge Safari

Now accepting reservations for stays from December 15, 2026.

At Mwiba Plains, 10 tented rooms and one family unit gaze out over the sweeping grasslands — each one vintage explorer in character and immediate in its connection to the wild.

Here, the Great Migration’s calving season is not merely a destination to be reached, but a backdrop to wake up to.
